I founded the journal.
Myself, Kathleen Trestka, who is my art editor, and several volunteer readers who are published poets themselves.
No cover letter is necessary.
We use Submission Manager and accept online submissions only through our website naugatuckriverreview.com.
We are looking for narrative poetry only. To NRR, a good narrative poem contains a story or sense of story, a strong emotional core and is a compressed narrative. We prefer work that is 50 lines or less.
Please read the sample poems up on the website under the "poems" tab or pick up a copy of the journal to get an idea of what we are looking for before submitting.
I think narrative poetry appeals to many people, not just poets, so anyone who likes a good story, told beautifully, is our ideal reader.
