Discuss Financial and Management Topics | Financial and Management Resources

The International Standard Serial Number is a concise citation for serials which is commonly used by booksellers, distributors, librarians, subscription agents and others. To obtain an ISSN for your magazine or journal (to serve for all issues), request the brochure "ISSN Is for Serials." This will explain how to use ISSN numbers and includes an application form. Obtain the brochure by contacting:

Library of Congress
National Serials Data Program
Washington, DC 20540-4160
(202-707-6452)

You can also download application materials and read up on ISSN at the ISSN website.

Questions regarding the process of registering a copyright or obtaining ISSN or ISBN numbers should be directed to the Copyright Office Recorded Information System at 202-707-3000. If the recorded messages (or websites) do not answer your questions, you will eventually (after a long hold) be put through to an Information Specialist.
