The tip sheet is used to tell your sales force how to best describe the book to retailers, and is the backbone of your sales kit. You should also give your sales force color copies of the book cover, excerpts from the book (if you can't have galleys or copies of the full manuscript ready), photos of the author (if they will help), notable press clippings, and a press release or other sheet that includes a full accurate description of the book's contents, all endorsements, and biographical information on the author. The biographical statement should include mention of all places the author has lived, alma mater, and any fascinating tidbits. If you will be presenting the book to the sales force in person, use that time to relate any memorable anecdotes about the book and its author that are impossible to relay through the tip sheet.
