Periodically Speaking: Literary-Magazine Editors Introduce Emerging Writers at The New York Public Library

New York, NY—The Council of Literary Magazines and Presses [clmp] and The New York Public Library present Periodically Speaking, a reading series providing a major venue for emerging writers to present their work while emphasizing the diversity of America's literary magazines and the magazine collections of The New York Public Library. Each event presents writers from three influential literary magazines—one poet, one fiction writer, one nonfiction writer—introduced by their editors.

One Story
One Story publishes one short story at a time. Every three weeks, subscribers receive one story in the mail, pleasant and simple. It is beautifully designed and easy to carry and read on the subway, on the bus, in line at the supermarket, or on the couch in the afternoon. One Story has been recognized by the O. Henry Prize Stories, Best American Short Stories, The Pushcart Prizes, and many others too numerous to list here.

Editor Hannah Tinti introduces fiction writer Patrick Ryan.

Aufgabe
Since its founding in 2001, Litmus Press's annual journal Aufgabe has presented diverse works by young, emerging, and established writers, with an emphasis on experimental and innovative poetry. In addition to new poetry, essays, reviews and talks, each issue features a guest-edited section of poetry from a different country in English translation.

Editor Paul Foster Johnson introduces poet Evelyn Reilly.

Epiphany
Established in 2003, Epiphany publishes fiction, nonfiction, poetry and visual media from both established and emerging writers and artists. They believe continuous study, practice, collaboration, and careful editing all lead to good writing. Epiphany supports and honors the determination of writers and artists by publishing work that is accessible, entertaining, and even life-changing.

Editor Willard Cook introduces nonfiction writer Anna Steegmann.
