The AWP Conference & Bookfair is the annual destination for writers, teachers, students, editors, and publishers of contemporary creative writing. It includes thousands of attendees, hundreds of events and bookfair exhibitors, and four days of essential literary conversation and celebration.

The 2025 AWP Conference & Bookfair will take place in person at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California, from March 26 to 29, 2025. In addition, #AWP25 will feature a remote component, with several live-streamed events and a selection of prerecorded virtual events. Literary Magazine as Textbook: Teaching Periodicals & Publishing in the Classroom

Judging by the Cover: Trends & Strategies for Designing Beautiful & Market-Worthy Books

A beautiful cover on the bookstore shelf can attract readers and sell a book. How do publishers work with in-house and freelance designers to create cohesive, contemporary designs that represent the best of the work inside? Designers and marketing professionals will address these questions in discussing their approach to cover design for literary titles.

Magazine Archives & What to Do with Them

Accumulating a sizable magazine archive is an impressive feat—a mark of longevity and success over years of publishing. Deciding what to do with a growing collection of old issues is another question. The magazines on this panel have found success in storing, sharing, monetizing, and/or digitizing their archives. Panelists will discuss how to store physical archives, options for monetizing back issues, how to undertake a digitization project, and more.
