The 2025 Trio Award for a First or Second Book of Poetry is open for submissions from November 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025. Since 2012, Trio House Press has sponsored this award, with the winner receiving $1,000 and publication of their manuscript.
The judge for this year’s contest is Sierra DeMulder, an internationally-recognized poet, educator, and podcast host. She is a two-time National Poetry Slam champion, a five-time published author (The Bones Below, New Shoes on a Dead Horse, We Slept Here, Today Means Amen, and Ephemera), and the co-host of Just Break Up, a globally popular advice podcast that has been downloaded more than 4 million times. Sierra lives in upstate New York with her wife and daughter.
The Trio Award for First or Second Book is only open to poets submitting their first or second book of poetry. Books and chapbooks with ISBN’s are considered “books”. Writers who have published more than two books in other genres but no books of poetry are still eligible for the Trio Award. The reading fee for submissions is $25.
