CLMP Members Celebrate National Poetry Month 2022


National Poetry Month was founded by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, and since then it has become the single largest literary celebration in the world. We’re proud to share the ways CLMP Members are bringing readers and writers together around poems in April 2022!

 

Alaska Quarterly Review
Alaska Quarterly Review is celebrating National Poetry Month and Earth Day with a special reading on Friday, April 22, at 8 PM ET. Featuring Ellen Bass, Alison Hawthorne Deming, and Anne Coray, this reading and conversation concludes AQR‘s Pièces de Résistance series for the 2021-22 season.

ANMLY
This April, ANMLY is publishing a poetry double issue in celebration of National Poetry Month—featuring poems by Wylde Parsley, Tim Tim Cheng, Stephanie Kaylor, Sihle Ntuli, Roy Wang, ​​Ros Seamark, Prince Bush, Olúwatamílọ́re Ọ̀shọ́, and more.

BOA Editions
During National Poetry Month, WXXI-FM will run periodic selections from the Best of Poetry Moments with BOA Editions. In addition, Writers & Books in Rochester, New York, is hosting a weekly online reading series called Meet BOA Editions Authors, which will feature readings and conversations with BOA’s spring authors every Monday in April at 7:30 PM ET. Throughout the month of April, BOA is also offering 20% off all collections of poetry and poetry-in-translation ordered through its website.

Book*hug Press
To celebrate the National Poetry Month season, Book*hug Press is launching its new In the Mood for Poetry series, which will feature weekly poetry reading lists every Friday in April.

Coach House Books
This April, Coach House Books is hosting two virtual book launches: a celebration of Andrew Faulkner’s Heady Bloom on April 6 and a celebration of Helen Hajnoczky’s After Beowulf on April 19.

Contemporary Verse 2
Contemporary Verse 2 is holding its annual 2-Day Poem Contest in celebration of National Poetry Month. On April 22, CV2 will release a list of ten words; contestants will have 48 hours to write an original poem that uses each of these words at least once.

Four Way Books
Four Way Books is sharing a poem a day on social media in celebration of National Poetry Month.

Gival Press
Gival Press is celebrating National Poetry Month with Issue 159 of its online journal, ArLiJo, which features poetry by Richard Block, David Breeden, Charles Brice, Frank John Edwards, R. L. Farr, Dhiraj Gaurh, Alisha Goldblatt, Jon Tilley, and Mervyn Seivwright.

Green Writers Press
In collaboration with The Sundog Poetry Center and in honor of National Poetry Month, Green Writers Press will celebrate the launch of Michael Fleming’s new poetry collection, Bags and Tools, at Next Stage Arts in Putney, Vermont, on April 22 at 7 PM ET.

In celebration of National Poetry Month, Poetry is offering a free download of its April 2022 issue, featuring new poems from exophonic poets including Don Mee Choi, Ilya Kaminsky, Dunya Mikhail, and Javier Zamora. The issue also contains essays by Ahmad Almallah, Lawrence-Minh Bùi Davis, and Sasha Pimentel.

The Rumpus
The Rumpus is publishing a new poem every day in April as part of its annual National Poetry Month series—beginning with poems by Chen Chen, Megan Fernandes, Safia Jama, and Arianne True.

SoFloPoJo: South Florida Poetry Journal
In celebration of National Poetry Month, SoFloPoJo is highlighting poets from its archives during the month of April on social media, beginning with poets from Issue 1 on April 1.

Unbound Editions
Throughout the month of April, Unbound Editions is promoting a campaign to “Regulate Big Poetry,” spreading the word though posters, social media posts, magnets, stickers, and more.
