Publishers previously published by Small Press Distribution (SPD) should have received a letter from Mary T. Dowling, Attorney for Small Press Distribution, in April 2024, notifying recipients that “on March 26, 2024, Small Press Distribution, Inc., a California nonprofit public benefit corporation (the ‘Corporation’), began proceedings to voluntarily wind up its affairs and dissolve the Corporation by action of its Board of Directors.”
Any publisher that received this letter received it because “according to our records, you may have a claim against the Corporation.”
The letter includes the following instructions for submitting claims:
Instructions for Submitting Claims
If you wish to assert a claim, you must do so as follows:
1. Provide the following information to substantiate your claim
- Your legal name and address;
- Amount of the claim;
- Basis for the claim; and
- Any other information you believe may be useful to verify the nature and amount of the claim, including copies of any relevant documents.

3. The claim must be received no later than the close of business on August 8, 2024.
NOTE: If claims are not received on or before August 8, 2024, the claim may be barred in its entirety.
