Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Be honest. Be direct. Confine it to publications and awards, accomplishments.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
If we cold answer this one we would be famous. We do like stories and poems which prove the craft of the writer; we do like stories and poems that grab us the first time through and read as well the second time around.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Self-edit - poor grammar, weak syntax, bad spelling will kill a manuscript. Follow the guidelines. Remember: good writers read a lot. Other stuff, too, but these three will make an impression.
Do You Have A Favorite Unsolicited Submission Discovery Or Anecdote?
Lots of good stories. Not really a favorite.
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
All readers are ideal. Just need more of them. We always enjoy comments from readers and flattering comments always move the author high on our list of favorite people.
