Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
The North Carolina Poetry Society was founded in 1932 as an all-volunteer organization for poets and friends of poetry. We now have over 560 members from North Carolina – and numerous locations nationwide and internationally. We provide a variety of programs, including readings, panels, workshops, and special presentations - all aimed at deepening and honing the practice of our craft. Each year, the North Carolina Poetry Society holds 8 student contests and 11 adult contests for poems covering a range of themes and forms; the winning poems are complied into The Pinesong.
